Here’s What to Do with Those #$%@ Leaves

Haverhill’s annual leaf pickup takes place early in December, according to Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini.

This year’s pickup service, in conjunction with trash contractor Capital Waste, will take place Saturday, Dec. 6. Residents are asked to put leaves only in either biodegradable paper leaf bags or in open trash containers by 6 a.m. on that date.

Containers or paper bags should not weigh more than 50 pounds each and be able to be handled by one or two men. Leaves are not to be left in loose piles in front of homes for collection. All leaf bags or containers must be free of trash, debris and limbs or they will not be accepted.

Residents may also bring leaves to the Recycling and Compost Center at 500 Primrose St., Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a fee until Dec. 13. For information and fee schedule for drop off, call (978) 420-3817.
