Frank A. Corbett, 84, Korean War Veteran

AVON PARK, FLA.–Frank A. Corbett, 84, of Avon Park, FL, and formerly of Plaistow, N.H., died Nov. 13, in Sebring, Fla.

Born in Eastport, Maine,, son of the late John D. and Vera W. (Chaffey) Corbett, he attended local schools. Corbett served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Corbett was employed as a Test Set Assembler for Western Electric, from where he retired.

A member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Haverhill, he was also an active member of the Saggahew Masonic Lodge in Haverhill and the V.F.W Post 29. Additionally, Corbett was a member of the Communications Workers of America Local 1365, the Telephone Pioneers of America, and the AFL-CIO.

Corbett was a lifelong volunteer. He most enjoyed volunteering his time to help produce audio balls, which were beeping softball which enabled blind children to play softball. Once settling in Florida, Corbett volunteered in local hospitals and local parks, helping organize morning coffee and movie nights.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lucille (VanNorden) Corbett, his brother, Ralph Corbett of Bangor, Maine, his sister Lillian Hall of Hudson, Mass., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Hubert Corbett and Paul Corbett, and his sister, Rheta Corbett.

Services for Corbett are to be held in Florida on Monday. Local arrangements are under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill,.
