To say this has not been a good year for Brian Langlois would be an understatement.
In June, Langlois, who is blind, found out his boyhood home on School Street was condemned by the city just as he found a buyer for it. Then, his wife of 37 years, Leslie, passed away in August. Now, Langlois’ life savings was stolen from his home. He told Open Mike Show listeners Monday night he did not realize at first the extent of his loss.
“Originally it was just some jewelry was stolen. I don’t know when because I don’t keep track of that sort of thing,” he said.
Langlois said there was no evidence of forced entry at his Hunters Run condominium, but then, on his birthday Oct. 14, he discovered the worst.
“This friend of mine was talking to me on the phone and said, ‘You know you really ought to check that safe.’ And I figured ah, safe is there. No problem and all this. I was getting ready for bed one night and said I’ll humor the guy. I’ll go check, and it was gone.”
Brian Langlois’ boyhood home was demolished this year.
Langlois said not only $30,000 in cash and bonds was lost, but so was the safe. He hopes the thief will return the safe, but thinks it is unrealistic.
“Wouldn’t it be nice if somebody had a change of heart and brought it back. Huh. What are the chances of that?”

So sorry to hear all of that bad news about my friend,Brian Langlois…he is a wonderful Haverhill community person and truly exhibits an inspiration for all of us.(and he is an outstanding Three Stooges enthusiast also!) Hopefully,the culprit will re-consider and bring Brian’s property back!
