Veterans Day Activities Take Place Throughout the Valley

Merrimack Valley communities are gearing up for local Veterans Day observances Tuesday.

Haverhill Monuments Tour

A free tour of Haverhill’s war memorials departs at 10:30 a.m. from the Buttonwoods Museum. Visitors will see monuments commemorating the service of Haverhill’s veterans from the Revolutionary War through the Vietnam Conflict. For more information, email [email protected].

Haverhill’s Veteran’s Day parade forms at 10 a.m. at VFW Lorraine Post 29, 64 Kenoza Ave. and begins at 10:30 a.m. The parade route moves from Monument Square, down Main Street to the Global Peace Monument on Ginty Boulevard, where servicestake place. A buffet luncheon follows at American Legion Farm, 1314 Main St.

Due to the holiday, The Haverhill City Council will not meet in regular session until next Tuesday.

In Methuen, a parade forms at 9:30 a.m. at American Legion Post 122, 200 Broadway. All veterans, active duty service members, National Guard and reservists are welcome to march in the parade.

The parade steps off at 10 and proceeds north on Broadway, left on Hampshire Street, left on Lowell Street past Central Fire Station, left on Grove Street to Walnut Grove Cemetery for ceremonies by American Legion Post 122.

In Andover, ceremonies sponsored by the town’s Veterans Services will be held at 10 a.m., at West Parish Cemetery, at 11 a.m. in Spring Grove Cemetery, and 12:00 p.m. at Ballardvale Green. Luncheon follows at 1 p.m., at Masonic Temple, 7 High Street.

In Plaistow, a Veterans Day ceremony will begin at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Plaistow Town Hall, 145 Main Street. A Vietnam War program will follow at 11 a.m., at the Carl G. Davis American Legion Post #34, 176 Main Street.
