Rita M. (Perreault) Viens, 92 of Haverhill died Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill

She was born in Haverhill, May 25, 1922, daughter of the late William A. and Virginia (Desourdie) Perreault. Viens’ mobility was limited but aided by use of a power wheelchair for more than 10 years. She maintained an independent lifestyle with personal care assistance for many years from Merrimack Valley Elder Services and help from family members. Her limited lifestyle did not hinder her from helping others. Viens enjoyed crocheting and knitting afghans which were presented as gifts to family and friends. Many were also donated to Sacred Hearts Parish where she was a lifelong parishioner. She also spent many happy hours listening to music, watching Daily Mass and reciting the Rosary via the Catholic TV channel.

She was the wife of the late Richard A. Viens who died in 2005 and her survivors include five sons, Richard A. Viens Jr. and his wife Geraldine of Bradford, George A. Viens of Waltham, Michael A. Viens and his wife Pauline of North Reading, James E. Viens and his wife Donna of Plaistow, N.H., Roland V. Viens and his wife Carol of Sterling, Virg., her sister, Priscilla Spaulding of Haverhill, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and foster children.

A visitation period will be held on Monday morning, Nov. 10, from 10 to 11 at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 So. Main St., Bradford. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, at 11:30 in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
