Alkmene G. (Karantonis) Kataxinos, 91

Alkmene G. (Karantonis) Kataxinos, 91, of Haverhill, died Tuesday morning, Nov. 4, at Hannah Duston Healthcare Center, Haverhill.

She was born in Lesvos, Greece, February 21, 1923, daughter of the late Antonios and Irene (Psomas) Karantonis. She came to Haverhill in May, 1966, with her family and was employed as a bench worker at the former Lucent Technologies, from where she retired in 1991. She was a member of the Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church in Haverhill. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and telling stories of her family and life in Greece. One of her greatest joys was taking care her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Kataxinos was the wife of the late George Kataxinos who died in 2005 and mother of the late Haralambos “Bobby” Kataxinos who died in 2011.

Her survivors include a son, Anthony and his wife Kristine Kataxinos of So. Hampton, N.H., a daughter-in-law, Rhea Kataxinos of Haverhill, and four grandchildren, Alkmene, Zacharoula, Alethea and Anthony Kataxinos.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Friday, Nov. 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday morning, Nov. 8 beginning at 9:00 from the Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 in Holy Apostles Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154-156 Winter St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Contributions in her memory may be made to her family.
