Florina C. (Bouvier) Comeau, 90, School Cafeteria Worker

Florina C. (Bouvier) Comeau, 90, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away Oct. 28, at the Penacook Place Nursing Home after a 12-year battle living with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of the late, Omer J. and Adeline (Archambault) Bouvier. She attended St. Joseph’s Grammar school and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1942.

Comeau was employed as a secretary for John Hancock Insurance Company and later the draft board. As her young family grew she stayed at home and when her children were school age she then returned to work as a cafeteria worker at the Consentino middle school.
During her free time she enjoyed bowling, playing Scrabble and working on her crossword puzzles. She taught her children the importance of education and was a quiet force of inspiration and encouragement.

The widower of Paul D. Comeau, she leaves her children, Dr. Anne M. Comeau and her husband, Ned McClung, of Newburyport, Jean L. McCann and her husband, Bernard, of Haverhill, Teresa M. Theriault and her husband, Peter A., of Sandown, N.H., and Paul J. Comeau and his wife Carol, of Plaistow, N.H.. She also leaves six grandchildren, Natalie and Miriam McClung, Eddie Callahan and his wife, Holly Johnson, Elizabeth Callahan, Jennifer McCann and her husband, Matthew Black, and Christopher McCann. One of 12 children, she is survived by her siblings, Adrian Bouvier and his wife, Jean, of Haverhill, Francis Bouvier and his wife, Shirley, of Haverhill, Marie Gaudet, of North Andover, sisters in law, Helen Bouvier of Haverhill, and Jacqueline Bouvier, of Plaistow, Helen Bouvier, of Cape Cod and several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Robert Bouvier, Dolores Kelly, Antoinette Duff, Paul Bouvier, Lucien Bouvier, Helen Bouvier, and Edward Bouvier.

Comeau’s family would like to express their gratitude to the professionals who cared for their their mother over the past 10 years, including Merrimack Place, Haverhill Crossings, Penacook and the staff of Merrimack Valley Hospice. Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (route 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9 a.m. at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave. Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hilldale Ave. Haverhill.
