Three generations of a Haverhill family appeared on WHAV’s Open Mike Show Monday night to discuss their participation in the upcoming “Rubbish to Runway ReFashion Show.”
Grandmother Jill Regensburg and mother and daughter, Jennifer and Annabel Dryden, talked about the fourth year of the refashion show where rubbish is queen of the runway. The event takes place Saturday, Oct. 25, at Nicholson Hall, 7 Harris St., Newburyport, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. It benefits the Tecnico Chixot school in Comalapa, Guatemala, which has been built by the non-profit Long Way Home out of waste materials such as earth-packed tires and trash-filled plastic bottles.
“The fashion show is a living demonstration of the principle that waste need not be wasted and can be transformed into basic needs such as clothing with a little creativity and skill,” said Elizabeth Rose, Long Way Home board member, of Georgetown.
Regensburg and the Drydens have been principally involved in the show for the last four years.
