Ruth V. (Boudreault) Srybny, 82, Worked at Wally’s Vegetables

Ruth V. (Boudreault) Srybny, 82, a resident of Haverhill for most of her life, died Saturday, Oct. 18, at her home, surrounded by her family and following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Daughter of the late Henry and Stella (St. Laurent) Boudreault, she attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and Haverhill High School. Srybny was first employed at Western Electric Co. for 15 years and later at the IRS, Wally’s Vegetable Stand and finally at the DeColores Book Store in Salem, N.H.

A member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill and the former Saint Joseph and Saint Michael’s parishes, Srybny was also a literacy teacher in the Haverhill School System.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother and owner of several Great Danes, she also enjoyed playing cards, completing crossword puzzles and traveling across the United States. She was also an avid reader, and enjoyed dancing, especially Polkas, and looked forward to watching Dancing With the Stars every week.

The wife of the late John R. Srybny and mother of the late David H. Srybny, and Sandra S. Srybny, she is survived by two sons, John R. Srybny, Jr. of Haverhill and Walter S. Srybny of Haverhill and his companion Sheila Paul and her daughter Mattie May, of Canada, three daughters, Stephanie S. Lesiczka and her husband Walter, of Haverhill, Pamela S. Megan-Srybny and her husband Timothy Megan of Haverhill, and Jennifer R. DeRoche of Haverhill, grandchildren, Peter J. Lesiczka, Stephen W. Lesiczka, Patryk Pruss, Jakob D. DeRoche, Gabrielle D. DeRoche and Michael J. Gentile, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to Mrs. Srybny’s Life Celebration to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 8 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Donations in her name may be made to The Comprehensive Grammar School Kids’ Cancer Club, 100 Howe St. Methuen, MA.
