Rose (Capetanelis) Gounaris, 92, formerly of Haverhill, passed away Oct. 15 at Woodbriar of Wilmington.
She was born in Haverhill on Feb, 2, 1922, daughter of the late John and Lambrothea (Tratelis) Capetanelis. Rose was educated in Haverhill, graduating from Haverhill High School with the class of 1941. She was employed for many years at the former Western Electric in North Andover.
She was the wife of the late George D. Gounaris and mother of the late John S. Gounaris. Her survivors include a son Daniel G. Gounaris and his wife Marilyn of Wilmington; daughter Cynthia E. Allen of Sebago, Maine; daughter-in-law Helen “Betsy” Gounaris of Chelmsford; grandchildren Lynn Jordan, Tracy Collins, and Nikki, Rebecca and George Gounaris; five great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Manny, Bill and Mike Capetanelis and Artemis Despotopulos.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the calling hours on Sunday, Oct. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Monday, Oct. 20 beginning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a Funeral Service at 11 in the Holy Apostles Saints Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter St. Haverhill. Interment will follow in the Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Holy Apostles Church, 154-156 Winter St. Haverhill.
