Liquor Stores Receive OK to Open at 10 a.m., Sundays

Fourteen Haverhill liquor stores are taking advantage of a new state law, allowing them to open at 10 a.m., Sundays.

The state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission announced Sunday, Oct. 26 is the first Sunday package stores are allowed to sell liquor at 10 a.m. Previously, such stores could not sell alcoholic beverages before noon. The state legislature approved the change of hours and Gov. Deval Patrick signed the bill into law in July. The law is intended to help New Hampshire border communities better compete.

The Haverhill License Commission Friday approved changes of hours for Red Hen Market, 7-Eleven, Qwikmart, Bradford Liquors, Riley’s Corner, Chris Ann Liquors, Shamrock Likkers, Richdale Convenience Store, Town’s Variety and Liquor, Racing Mart, American Grocery, Quality Brand Liquors, Meadowlawn Dairy and Pares Liquors.

Stores wishing to change hours must notify the Haverhill License Commission in advance.
