Public Hearing Tonight on City Rail, Water St. Trails

Haverhill city officials are seeking the public’s input on the city’s plans to extend the downtown rail trail, and for a Water Street trail improvement project. A public meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m., tonight, at Haverhill City Hall, room 301.

According to Mayor James J. Fiorentini, a plan to extend the Bradford side of the rail trail from the Basiliere Bridge to the Crescent Yacht Club include a land purchase for an unused stretch of rail bed through a state transportation grant. The Water Street project would improve the Buttonwoods Trail along the Merrimack River between Mill Street and the junction of Lincoln Avenue and Riverside Street. Walkways to the trail and landscaping would also be added.
