John E. Murray White, 34, Iraq Veteran

John E. Murray White, 34, passed away suddenly Sept. 30 at Lowell General Hospital.

He was born on March 7, 1980 in Boston. He was raised in Charlestown and was a graduate of Marblehead High School, class of 1998, where he loved playing hockey and lacrosse. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps stationed from Camp Pendleton, San Diego, Calif. and served during Operation Iraqi Freedom and being honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant. When John returned to the States, he worked as an IT Sales Manager.

He will be most remembered for his charismatic smile, contagious sense of humor, his generosity for mankind, love for his family and love for his USMC brothers.

His surviving family members include his parents, Catherine Murray and Joseph Benson of Bradford; siblings, Travis Benson and Shannon Benson of Bradford; grandparents, John and Catherine Murray; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

His funeral will be held Monday morning, Oct. 6, beginning in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, (route 125), Bradford at 11. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main Street, Bradford at 12:30 p.m. Celebration of John’s life will continue at the Bradford Country Club. He will be laid to rest on Tuesday with U.S. Marine Corps honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.

Visiting hours will be Sunday in the funeral home from 1 to 5 p.m..
