Josephine (D’Orazio) Comei, 89, Bank Teller

Josephine (D’Orazio) Comei, 89, of Haverhill, died Monday evening, Sept. 29 at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, Haverhill.

She was born in Haverhill, June 4, 1925, daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy (Forte) D’Orazio. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Mrs. Comei graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1943. She was employed at the former Haverhill Shoe Novelty, Haverhill-Lawrence Transportation, and until her retirement in 1990, was a teller at the former Haverhill Italian American Credit Union for more than 25 years. Comei cherished family gatherings with her children and grandchildren.

She was the wife of the late Gaetano “Guy” Comei who died in 1992 and her survivors include a daughter, Susan M. Martin and her husband David B. of Methuen, a son, Steven P. Comei of Haverhill, two grandchildren, Christopher Martin and Emily Comei, a sister-in-law, Romilda D’Orazio of Groveland, a niece, Cynthia Leary and her husband Duncan, and a nephew, Daniel D’Orazio and his wife Debra. She was predeceased by her brother Donato “Danny” D’Orazio.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the calling hours on Friday, Oct. 3, from 5-8 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4 beginning at 10:30 at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 at All Saints Church, Haverhill. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. Contributions in her memory may be made to the American Parkinson Disease, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305 or the donor’s choice.
