Michael P. “Mike” Brindle, 69, Machinist

Michael P. “Mike” Brindle, 69, passed away on September 24, 2014 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Kathryn “Kathy” (Roberts) Brindle.

Born in Haverhill on January 13, 1945, he was the son of the late Richard H. and Grace E. (Chaput) Brindle.

Mike graduated from Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1963. He applied his knowledge for 30 years as a machinist working for Groveland Machine and then Olympic Engineering of Ward Hill. He found great enjoyment around his home, gardening, time in the pool, and cooking and canning. For many years he and his wife looked forward to their annual trip vacationing in Aruba where Mike would go deep sea fishing. Mike had many friends and over time became affectionately known as “Mr. B’.”

Besides wife of 24 years Mike is survived by his children, Phillip Brindle and wife Carol of Utah, Kevin Brindle of Utah, Faith Burke of Haverhill, Michael Smith of Haverhill; four grandchildren; siblings, Patricia LaBelle and husband Norman of Kingston, N.H., Barbara Bossi and husband Richard of Indio, Calif., David Brindle and wife Ollie of The Villages, Fla., Suzanne Schuh and husband Charles of Kingston, N.H.; sister-in-law Diane Waterhouse and husband George of Boynton Beach, Fla.; brother-n-law Michael Roberts and wife Diana of Nashua, N.H.; his close and valued friend Michael Tucker of Haverhill, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m., at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Donations in Mike’s memory may be made to Brigham & Women’s Hospital, 116 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02116.
