Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini says he is taking “swift” action against gang-related graffiti he found on private and public buildings around the city.
According to a press release, Fiorentini met yesterday with police and city officials as well as the Essex County Sheriff’s anti-graffiti unit to coordinate steps to prevent the form of tagging in the future. Plans include added police patrols in the affected areas. Graffiti removal efforts are ongoing.
Fiorentini said the goal is to remove graffiti as soon as it appears and to punish those responsible.
