Lucien P. Lamarre Sr., 77, Korean War Veteran

Lucien P. Lamarre Sr., 77, of Haverhill, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 10 at the Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, Haverhill.

He was born in Salem, Mass. July 29, 1937, son of the late Joseph and Rosa (Brochu) Lamarre. Lou was educated in the Salem school system and graduated from the Salem Vocational School. After his graduation he enlisted in the Navy and served during the Korean War from 1952-1957. Upon his return from serving his country, he owned and operated many different businesses, Lou’s Auto Service and Lou’s Oil Burner service were just two of many businesses he owned. He was employed at Borden Chemical Co. prior to his retirement. He was a man of many talents and very skilled with his hands.

Lamarre was a member of the American Legion Wilbur M. Comeau Post #4, The AMVETS Post #147.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Marjorie E. (Gurley) Lamarre, children Lucien “Paul” Lamarre and his wife Lisa of Haverhill, Scott A. Lamarre and his wife Diana Turin of PA, Elaine A. and her husband Arthur Wilson of Salisbury; siblings Rene Lamarre of Salem, Mass., Laurent Lamarre and his wife Joyce of Danvers, Therese Grenier of Salem, Rose Marie and her husband Lionel Darisse of Middleton; sister-in-law Grace Lamarre of Salem; 7 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Jeannette Searles, Rita Cappuccio, Bernadette Anketell, Laurette O’Brien, Julienne Marks, and Clarence, Rosario and Robert Lamarre.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the calling hours on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill, MA 01830. His Funeral Service will be Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
