City Dedicates 9/11 ‘Pocket Park;’ Swears in Firefighters

Haverhill Firefighters Keith Baldwin, Christopher Jones and Christopher Link are elevated to the rank of lieutenant.

A 9/11 memorial observance took place in Haverhill on Thursday with the dedication of Emmaus Commons, a “pocket park,” in a neighborhood on Locust Streeet, adjacent to the downtown.

Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini was joined by various officials, including first Essex state Senator Kathleen O’Connor Ives of Newburyport. A bench at the park was also dedicated to the victims of 9/11.

The City’s observances culminated with a swearing-in ceremony at the mayor’s City Hall Office for three new Fire Department lieutenants. Haverhill Firefighters Keith Baldwin, Christopher Jones and Christopher Link were elevated to the rank of lieutenant, according to a press release.
