Shirley A. (Johnson) Vogt, 92, Pianist

Shirley A. (Johnson) Vogt, 92, of Haverhill, died Sunday, Sept.7, with her family by her side.

She was born in Lawrence June 22, 1922 to Natalie (Adams) Johnson and Clarence Johnson. She was a direct descendent through her mother of Reverend Joseph Adams of Newington, N.H., uncle to President John Adams.

She was the widow of Robert C. Vogt of Andover. She was predeceased by her sister Lois (Johnson) Masow in 1987. She is now reunited with all of her loved ones. She will be missed by her son Carl and his wife Ginny of Canton, Conn., and by her daughters Lissa and Susan Vogt of Haverhill. Shirley leaves her grandson, Sam and his wife Sarah, her granddaughter Hannah, and her great granddaughters Isabella and Aivery.

Throughout her life, Shirley was a fine classical pianist and in her teenage years performed numerous recitals at Searles Hall in Methuen. Her musical talents brought great joy to all family gatherings and inspired a love of music in her children.  At the family’s request, services will be private.
