Authorities in Newburyport say threats related to an email sent this morning to a Newburyport High School administrator were unfounded.
A Newburyport Police spokesperson said the lockdown at Newburyport High School was lifted late this morning, and the school has been deemed safe. However, during a precautionary sweep of the school using k-9 units, one person was taken into custody for having a dangerous weapon, a knife, on school grounds. This charge was unrelated to the initial threat received after the start of classes this morning.
An investigation is ongoing.
