Police Charge Haverhill Man with Shoplifting

A Haverhill man is facing several charges in connection with an alleged shoplifting incident on Monday at a business in the Bradford section.

Haverhill Police report 34-year-old Daniel J. Cormier of Haverhill was arrested at 8:46 a.m., Monday, at Cedardale, 687 South Main Street. He is charged with shoplifting, giving a false name to police, and possession of a class E substance.

Cormier was also taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. He is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.

In other police news, a Methuen man is due to be arraigned on drunk driving charges from Haverhill Police after a traffic stop early Saturday near the downtown. Police report 21-year-old Evan Cyr of Methuen was arrested at about 1 a.m., Saturday, at 56 River Street. He is charged with failure to yield, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
