Negotiations Continue in Market Basket Saga

Market Basket, Central Plaza, Haverhill.

No new word on a possible deal for $1.5 Billion Market Basket buyout offer from ousted CEO Arthur T. Demoulas, but negotiations reportedly carried on into Tuesday night while a contingency plan to close most of the company’s 71 stores is said to be in place to slow losses.

A protest and boycott by workers and customers over Arthur T.’s firing by the company’s board of directors in June is now in its sixth week. Meanwhile, the group of protesting workers known as “Save Market Basket” is telling associates, via Facebook, not to panic over what it calls “rumors or misinformation.”
