Melvin S. Doucette Sr., 81

Melvin S. Doucette Sr., 81, of Groveland, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014, surrounded by his family at the Holy Family Hospital, Methuen after living with Parkinson’s Disease for several years.

Melvin was born on January 6, 1933 in Wilmington, one of six children of the late Percy and Isabelle (Babine) Doucette. He was raised and educated in Tewksbury. Melvin is a Veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany as a Morse Code Operator.

Upon returning from overseas, he married Dorothy M. (Allen) Doucette in July of 1958 and they began their family together. Melvin has resided in Groveland since 1964 where they raised their children.

He spent the majority of his career with Packet Research, Andover, for many years, and retired from Essex Bank, Peabody in 1995.

His activities included golfing, life-long Boston Red Sox fan, Pontoon Boating, and wintering in Seminole, Florida and many fond memories with couples and friends at Lake Winnipesaukee. Most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his family and friends.

Longtime parishioner of All Saints Parish, Haverhill, having served on several church committees with his wife.

His surviving family members in addition to his loving wife include, his caring children, Kathy Doucette and partner Randy Wickson of Tewksbury, Mel (Steve) Doucette, Jr. and wife Kathleen of Methuen, Sharron Carter and husband John of Deerfield, NH, Leanne Coppinger and husband Glenn of No. Andover and Christy Hubbard and husband Charles, Jr. of Haverhill; grandchildren, John Carter, Dylan Doucette, Devan Doucette, Jimmy Coppinger, CJ Hubbard, Curtis Hubbard, Cassie Hubbard, Cristian Hubbard, Shea Carter and Chris Worrell; sister, Anne Ring of Wilmington; many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held Thursday morning, August 28, beginning in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, (Rte. 125), Bradford at 10 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 11 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.

Visiting hours will be Wednesday in the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m.
