Doris L. (Thomas) McNeil, 64, died Saturday, August 23, 2014 in the Villa Crest Nursing & Retirement Center, Manchester following an extended illness.
Born in Haverhill on August 11, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Larry and Dorothy (Glancy) Thomas. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School class of 1968 and a graduate of Northern Essex Community College. Doris had resided in Haverhill for many years before moving to Kingston six years ago.
An avid hiker, Doris climbed every 4000 ft. peak in New England and was a member of the American Mountain Club. She also enjoyed walking around Kenoza Lake with family and friends and especially loved to spend time with her children and grand-grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Gonyer and her husband, Christopher of Brentwood, Sharon McNeil Couture of Nashua and Sandra “Sam” McNeil of Haverhill; her son, Ronald McNeil and his wife, Kellie Sevigny of Methuen; eight grandchildren, Jessica Kirwin and her fiancé, Joshua Harding, Joshua McNeil, Cynthia O’Brien, Amber McNeil, Kaili Couture, Logan Couture and Alicia and Richard Burdick; one great-grandson, Zeviah Harding; three sisters, Faith Jameson, Joyce Crockett and Valerie Etter; one brother, Larry Thomas and his wife, Geraldine and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a sister, Glory Chaffee.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday evening in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill from 4 – 7 p.m. Funeral services will be privately held at the convenience of the family.
