Sarah I. Moser has been named interim director of the Haverhill Public Library, filling the position left by Carol Verny who retired in July.

Moser, of Newbury, joined the library during March, 2013. She previously worked at the Cambridge Public Library and Newburyport Public Library. Moser has a master’s from Tufts University and a master’s in Library Science from Simmons College.

Verny, of Newburyport, joined the library as director during January, 2009.

The Trustees of the Haverhill Public Library are expected to advertise the position of director this fall. The board does not meet during August. When asked if she will be a candidate for the permanent post, Moser said, “I haven’t made up my mind yet.”

The library, which normally employs 25 people, is also looking for a head of reference services.
