Council Considers Bradford Rail Trail Project

The Haverhill City Council could take action Tuesday night to approve the layout and establishment of the Bradford Rail Trail.

On the council agenda, Mayor James J. Fiorentini is asking for approval of a layout map for the non-vehicular passageway between the Basilere Bridge and South Elm Street on the Bradford side of the Merrimack River. It has received a favorable recommendation from the Haverhill Planning Board after a public hearing held by that panel.

The matter was postponed by the council at its previous meeting two weeks ago.

Spending matters are also on the agenda, as councilors are being asked to approve bond authorizations for a $325,000 roof replacement project at the city skating rink and $363,100 for additional design costs for a Route 97 improvement project. The Haverhill City Council meets at 7 p.m., Tuesday, in council chambers at Haverhill City Hall.
