Andover Bars Pipeline Work on Town-Owned Land

Town leaders in Andover are asking for a meeting with a company proposing to construct a natural gas pipeline tributary to consider proposed alternate routes.

A letter this week from the Andover Board of Selectmen also informed representatives of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners that workers and contractors for its subsidiary, Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, are barred from accessing town-owned properties to perform surveys or other work related to its proposed lateral pipeline route to Lynnfield.

Selectmen, along with town boards including the Andover Conservation Commission, have produced five proposed alternate routes. Four of those routes would follow existing right of ways and avoid impact to Andover’s protected watershed and conservation lands.
