Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini conducted a “listening tour” Monday to hear what residents had to say about the Market Basket dilemma.
The mayor went to the Citizens Center and Merrivista, a senior housing development, to hear what residents had to say about how the Market Basket issues are affecting their lives. The mayor also went into a local Market Basket and spoke to a manager that was currently acting as a cashier due to the lack of employees in the store.
Fiorentini said he is concerned about the job losses and shopping challenges facing residents, and hopes the Market Basket organization ends the issue quickly as “residents are finding it difficult to find alternatives.”
