Joseph V. Lorigan, 90, Former Gas Co. Worker

Joseph V. Lorigan, 90, formerly of Grove St., Haverhill, died Sunday evening, August 10, at Penacook Place Nursing Home, Haverhill.

He was born in Haverhill, December 16, 1923, son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Murphy) Lorigan. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Mr. Lorigan graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II, and until his retirement in the mid 1990’s, was employed for Haverhill Gas Co. for over 30 years. He was a member of the Amvets Post 147, Haverhill, and a former member of the Crystal Springs Golf Course and Haverhill Country Club. Mr. Lorigan was also a member of the former St. Rita’s Church, Haverhill. He was the husband of the late Lorraine (Pomerleau) Lorigan who died in 2003 and his survivors include three sons, Peter Lorigan of Atkinson, NH, Michael Lorigan and his wife Julie of Milton, Vincent Lorigan of Haverhill, three grandchildren, Nicole, Sarah and Patrick Lorigan as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his calling hour on Wednesday, August 13, from 4 to 7 at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His Funeral will be held on Thursday morning, August 14, beginning at 11:00 at the Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon in All Saints Church, Haverhill. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill.
