Gladys P. (DeLawrence ) Belfiore, 95

Gladys P. (DeLawrence ) Belfiore, 95, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, August 6, 2014 at Penacook Place in Haverhill, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Vincent J. Belfiore, who died in 1989.

Born in Boston, February 2, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Frizzell) DeLawrence. After high school, Gladys graduated from the Holy Ghost School of Nursing in Cambridge, and went on to work as an LPN at various area hospitals and nursing homes.

In later years she worked at Western Electric, and in the cafeteria at the Tilton School in Haverhill. In her spare time, Gladys enjoyed knitting, doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and spending endless hours maintaining her garden. Also, with nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild, the wonderful times spent with them always filled her heart with great joy.

In addition to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchild, she is survived by three sons, James V. Belfiore and wife Michelina of Las Vegas, NV; Joseph R. Belfiore and Michael J. Belfiore both of Haverhill; her sister, Dorothy Gudinas of Salisbury and many dear friends. She was pre deceased by her sister Josephine Moores, and her brother George DeLawrence.

The family of Gladys is grateful for the wonderful care during her stay at Penacook Place. Their dedicated staff is truly a “Miracle of Haverhill.”

By request of the family, funeral services and interment in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill will be private and there will be no visiting hours.
