Hunking School Leader to Receive Planning Board Seat

A number of appointments by Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini are going before the city council Tuesday, including that of a leader from the Haverhill school parent group which lobbied successfully for a new Hunking School to join the Haverhill Planning Board.

The Haverhill City Council is being asked to confirm Haverhill For Hunking co-chairperson Karen Peugh as the newest member of the Planning Board for a five-year term.

Also on the council agenda for its Tuesday night meeting, a vote expected to re-establish a five-member Recycling Advisory Committee. Non-confirming appointments to the panel would include councilor Colin LePage and DPW Director Michael Stankovich as an advisory member. Local businessman Peter A. Carbone would serve as its chairperson. The revamped Recycling Committee comes as Mayor Fiorentini is scheduled to present a proposed new trash and recycling pickup contract that would bring automated pickup to the city with the use of new, 64 gallon wheeled containers.

The Haverhill City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers at Haverhill City Hall.
