Two Haverhill residents face assault charges after an altercation reportedly involving a stabbing as the result of a random encounter in a High Street neighborhood.
Haverhill Police report 28-year-old Brandon Brown and 27-year-old Albert Walker, both of Haverhill, were arrested at 12:35 a.m., Wednesday at 67 High Street. Brown is charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault and battery. Walker is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and disguise to obstruct justice.
According to a Haverhill police spokesman, a 37-year-old male victim was found stabbed several times in the stomach late Tuesday night near the intersection of High Street and Swasey Street. He was transported to Lawrence General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators found a trail of blood at the scene which lead to the suspects’ apartment. Suspect Walker was transported to a Boston hospital after found bleeding heavily from his hand. There was no word at press time on their conditions.
In other police news, a 17-year-old Haverhill juvenile is due to face drug-related charges after his arrest Wednesday evening. Haverhill Police report the male juvenile, whose identity is being witheld due to his age, was arrested shortly before 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at Central Street Park. He is charged with possession of a class D drug with intent to distribute. He was also taken into custody on three outstanding warrants.
