Albert R. “Al” Waitt, Jr., 90

 

PLAISTOW, N.H.–Albert R. “Al” Waitt, Jr., 90, died Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the Huntington Common Assisted Living Facility in Kennebunk, Maine. He was the beloved husband of Angelina B. (Catanzaro) Waitt with whom he shared fifty-nine years of marriage and would have celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary in September.

Born in Haverhill on October 26, 1923 he was the son of the late Albert R., Sr. and Phoebe (Kyle) Waitt. He was a graduate of Haverhill High School and grew up on Downing Ave. in Walnut Square, Haverhill before moving to Plaistow nearly sixty years ago. A U. S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the South Pacific and was honorably discharged as a Private First Class on February 16, 1946.

He was a self-employed plasterer for many years and was also the proprietor of Chip’s Place a seafood restaurant in Kennebunkport, Maine for twelve years.

He was an avid sport’s fan and an outdoors enthusiast who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Albert was a former member of the local VFW and American Legion many years ago while living in Plaistow.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Albert R. Waitt, III and his wife, Kimberly and his grandchildren, Sydney Rae and Aaron all of Kennebunkport, ME; a sister, Nancy Melvin of North Andover and his brother-in-law, Hugh Pearson of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service for Albert will be held on Friday in St. James Cemetery, 360 Primrose Street in Haverhill at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill from 7 – 9 PM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.
