Rita (Blinn) Marcotte, 96

Rita (Blinn) Marcotte, 96, of Haverhill died peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.

Born, raised, and educated in Haverhill, daughter of the late Maximilian and Marie Eva (Grandmont) Blinn, she attended Haverhill High School. As a young woman, Mrs. Marcotte was employed in the local shoe industry, and was later employed as a communication worker for Western Electric Company, and most recently as a credit manager for Hudson’s.

A member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish, she was a member of the D.A.V Auxiliary and a former member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society. Mrs. Marcotte enjoyed sewing and local politics and ran for Haverhill City Council in 1977. Dedicated to the Monastery of the Precious Blood in Manchester, NH, she volunteered for local veterans groups and co-directed musicals at the former St. George Parish.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Z. Marcotte, and is survived by two daughters, Maxine Dosti and her husband Paul of Wolfeboro, NH, and Linda Marcotte of Haverhill, a sister, Carole Blinn of Kingston, NH, three grandsons, Michael Dosti of Haverhill, U.S.C.G Commander Derek Dosti of Miami, FL, and Ron Dosti of Ayer, MA, four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are private. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 10 a.m. at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill, MA. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements are under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.
