A Haverhill motorcyclist was seriously injured in a three-vehicle collision Thursday in Methuen.

Raymond Thoby of the Bradford section of Haverhill received life threatening injuries and was airlifted from the scene to Massachusetts General Hospital in critical condition.

Police in Methuen say a 2013 Toyota Sienna Van, operated by an Arvind M. Patel of Dracut was traveling westbound on Lowell Boulevard, Route 110, when it collided with a 2003 Honda Civic, operated by a Bradford McCue, of Methuen. The Honda was stopped, awaiting to turn left into his driveway on Lowell Boulevard. The impact of the Toyota van resulted in the Honda proceeding into the oncoming eastbound lane directly into the path of a 1991 Harley Davidson Sportster XL1200 motorcycle, operated by Thoby.

As a result of a preliminary on scene investigation, Arvin M. Patel, was placed under arrest and charged with one count of Operating Under the Influence of Liquor Causing Serious Bodily Injury. He was held on $10,000 bail at the Methuen Police Department pending arraignment at Lawrence District Court.

The crash remains under investigation by Methuen Police and a Massachusetts State Police Crash Reconstruction Team.
