Jammed Gun Saves Store Clerk; Police Seek Public’s Help

Haverhill police are asking the public’s help in identifying a convenience store robbery suspect. The robber’s gun apparently jammed while he was attempting to fire it.

A police spokesman says a male suspect entered Tedeschi Food Mart at the corner of Main and Dudley Streets at approximately 6:25 a.m., Thursday. He approached the counter and pointed a black firearm at the clerk while demanding money. When the clerk was unable to open the register the suspect threatened to kill her and attempted to fire the weapon. Police say it appears that the weapon jammed.

The suspect then fled the store and was last seen running up Dudley St. The suspect is described as a white male, 20 to 25 years old with black curly hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie, gray jeans and a white mask. Anyone with information is urged to contact Haverhill Detectives at (978) 373-1212.
