Forest Acres Fire Victims to Receive Donations Today

Donations to an account for families displaced in the Forest Acres apartment complex fire two months ago are being disbursed Today.

Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s office said the mayor will present checks from money donated to an account at Pentucket Bank set up by the mayor’s office after the May 7 blaze.

Donations exceeded $10,000, According to the mayor’s office. The fire was caused by careless disposal of smoking materials outside one building at the Ward Hill apartment complex spread to a second building and destroyed at least 12 apartments and heavily damaged up to another 12 units. A young mother seriously injured her back after jumping from a third story window holding her toddler son in her arms. The boy was not hurt.
