Stephen Paul Duffy of Haverhill, passed away on July 7th at the age of 62 after a long battle with cancer.
Steve grew up in Shawsheen, Andover and graduated from Andover High School in 1970. Steve was a three sport athlete lettering in football, track and baseball. Upon graduation he worked in the construction and ski industry for a short period before starting his career in the golf and landscaping business.
Steve owned and operated his own business for over thirty years providing landscaping, and snow plowing services as well as golf course maintenance, known as Case Inc. He ran Rolling Green Golf Course in Andover for over twenty-five years where he met his wife Nancy. Together they also operated the Rolling Green Fitness Center. After leaving Rolling Green, Steve was involved in the start- up of Atkinson Country Club as the first golf course superintendent. He ended his career at Northfields, a private residential community in Haverhill, where he oversaw the golf course and surrounding grounds.
He enjoyed skiing, golf, and spending time along the coast of Maine with his wife and dog Greta. He was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed following the stock market closely.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Nancy E. (Damon) Duffy, his brother Gordon and his wife Mara of Atkinson, and Tom of Andover. He also leaves his mother in law Joan Damon of Nashua, NH, brother in law Stuart Damon and his wife Julie of Vienna Virginia, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Joseph Duffy, mother Joan Duffy, and his brother Jay Duffy.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Thursday, July 10, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. A graveside committal service will be held Friday morning at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, North Broadway, Haverhill.
