Ann (Lacaillade) Dow, 81

Haverhill – Ann (Lacaillade) Dow, 81, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Lawrence General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late, Harold and Tressa (O’Bryan) Lacaillade. Raised in the Bradford section of Haverhill, she attended Haverhill Public Schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High school, class of 1950. Living in the West Parish of Haverhill since 1957, she has been a member of St. Joseph Church and All Saints Parish. Mrs. Dow had a long and varied career, along with raising a family she worked full time, starting at J.M. Fields, and Haverhill Credit Bureau, also Haverhill Paperboard , and finally Western Electric in North Andover, retiring from Lucent Technologies after twenty eight years.
Retirement did not mean resting, Mrs. Dow worked the polls during voting season; she worked for the school department, and volunteered at the All Saints Parish Food Pantry. She enjoyed traveling, mostly Europe and was an avid reader. She knitted and sewed, she was a great cook and everyone loved her homemade pies.

A devoted wife mother and grandmother, she was the widow of William J. Dow who died in 1993. She leaves three loving children; a son W. Douglas Dow, of Haverhill, two daughters; Deborah A. Riley and her husband, Thomas J. of Bradford, and Tracey S. Dorr and her husband, Kevin J., also of Haverhill, four cherished grandchildren; Brad J. Riley, Heather A. Riley, Stacey A. Dow, and Janelle A. Dow, two great grandchildren; Lucas and Alexander Riley; a sister Jane Holland, of Bear, Delaware, sister in law, Margo Lacaillade, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Harold Carlton Lacaillade.

Mrs. Dow’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Wingate at Haverhill and the C.C.U. unit at Lawrence General Hospital for the care given to their mother during her illness.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Monday, July 7, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. Funeral services will begin from the funeral home at 9:00 AM on Tuesday morning with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM at All Saints Church, Bellevue Ave. Haverhill. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem St. Bradford.
