Police Make Arrest in ‘Hit and Run’ Incident

A Haverhill man is due in Haverhill District Court to face multiple motor vehicle charges in connection with an alleged hit and run accident over the weekend.

Haverhill police report 35-year-old Erik C. Saunders of Haverhill was arrested shortly after 10:30 p.m., Saturday, at 9 Fountain Street. He is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, unlicensed operation, negligent operation, and failure to stop for a police officer.

In other police news: A Haverhill man is facing police charges of impaired driving after a traffic stop by police on Stevens Street near Lafayette Square. Haverhill Police report 47-year-old Ronald Bvaeje of Haverhill was arrested at 9:30, Sunday night, on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence and operation with a revoked driver’s license. An investigation is ongoing.

Two young women, including a 17-year-old juvenile, are each facing assault charges in connection with a reported disturbance early Saturday morning at a Franklin Street home. Haverhill Police report 19-year-old Holly Weir of Haverhill and a 17-year-old female juvenile were both arrested at 12:30 a.m., Saturday. They are each charged with assault and battery, and disorderly conduct. Weir is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court. The unidentified juvenile was released into the custody of her mother and she is due to be arraigned at a juvenile court session.

A Haverhill man arrested over the weekend at GAR Park in the downtown is charged with drinking in public.   Haverhill Police report Micris Godfrey, 29, of Haverhill was taken into custody at 6:30 p.m., Friday. He is due to be arraigned on the charge in Haverhill District Court.
