Council Takes Up Police Roof Money Again Tuesday

Haverhill city councilors on Tuesday will revisit the proposed future use of funds donated to the police department. At issue is whether to use nearly $368,000 from a trust fund to replace a leaking roof at the police headquarters on Bailey Boulevard.

Mayor James J. Fiorentini has proposed using the funds from the D’Alessandro Trust account in order to expedite the new roof work sooner than an expected wait to secure a loan for the project. The Haverhill City Council is expected to decide on the requested roof repair appropriation when it meets Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in council chambers at Haverhill city hall.
