Baby Sunil Elias Beepath died Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill, MA. Sunil was born Oct. 21, 2018, to Sunil B. Beepath and Elisa Espinal. Charles Osborne “Chucky” Burrill Jr., 59, died Jan. 25 from injuries sustained in a car accident. Born in Haverhill, he worked as a custodian at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport. Donald “Joe” Hamel, 81, of Natick, died Jan. 16. A former Haverhill resident and graduate of Haverhill High School, Hamel worked as a civil engineer for the Massachusetts Department of Conservation for over 30 years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central St., Natick. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Susan E. Spurling, 73, died unexpectedly with her family by her side on Jan. 22 at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was the wife of Atty. Dennis M. Spurling. Her career as a sixth-grade teacher in Haverhill spanned 41 years, with the majority of her tenure spent at John Greenleaf Whittier before she retired in 2008. Calling hours at the Dole, Childs & Shawn Funeral Home, 148 Main St., take place from 2-7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m. at Atkinson Congregational Church. A spring burial is expected at Maplewood North Parish Cemetery.
