Robert P. Melendy, 58, Consultant, Pharmaceutical HR Director

Robert P. Melendy, 58, longtime resident of Charlestown and formerly of Haverhill, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Bob was born in Haverhill, Aug. 2, 1960, son of Diana (Gucciardi) and the late Gordon Melendy. He was raised in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1978. Melendy then graduated from Boston College, class of 1982, where he studied in business. After graduation he took graduate courses at Harvard University where he received several certificates. He was employed as director of human resources for various companies in the pharmaceutical industry until his retirement, at which point started his own consulting business.

His activities included tennis, golf, collecting art and photography. Melendy also enjoyed exploring different places, wines and foods. There was no greater joy than being a loving uncle and godfather to many. His philosophy in life was to strive to be the best person he could possibly be.

His surviving family members include his mother Diana Melendy of Groveland; sisters Karen Iacozzi and husband Vincent of Atkinson, N.H., and Diane Goodman and husband Eric of Hampton, N.H.; and nieces and nephews Carina, Francesca, Christopher and Cam.

Visitation is Friday, Dec. 21, at Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 S. Main St, Haverhill, from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, celebrated in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill at 10 a.m. Meet directly at the church. Burial follows follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
