Nicholas Athanasatos, 80, Owned Nick’s European Painting

Nicholas Athanasatos, 80, of Plaistow, N.H., died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Sept. 26, while on vacation in Greece.

He was born on July 19, 1938 in Karavados Kefalonia, Greece and was the son of the late Panagis and Aikaterini Athanasatos.

Athanasatos came to the Unites States in 1955. He was the owner and sole proprietor of Nick’s European Painting, residing in Santa Cruz, Calif., for several years prior to returning to the Plaistow, N.H., area.

He enjoyed working and spending his summers in Greece.

His survivors include his wife of 35 years, Athena “Tina” (Malvers) Athanasatos of Plaistow, N.H., her children, Joe DeCristofaro and Nicole DeCristofaro, his children Daniel Athanasatos, Katherine Hernandez, Christine Athanasatos, Helene Barry, Peter Athanasatos, Cynthia Athanasatos, several grandchildren and many great grandchildren, two brothers, Peter and Alex and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Wednesday, Oct. 10, from 5-7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill. His funeral will be Thursday morning, Oct. 11, beginning at 10 a.m. from the funeral home followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in Holy Apostles Sts. Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154-156 Winter St., Haverhill. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
